How Your Fingers Can Predict Your Penis Size

Men have always questioned the size of their penis and they have always wanted to know. Some men were always curious about their size and if it was average, normal or above average. And yet, there is no one-size-fits-all solution to the question of how big is normal. There are two physical attributes that can indicate the size of a man’s penis. One of them is the size of his fingers. In this paper, we’ll discuss the connection between fingers length and penis size and how this can be used to estimate a man’s penis size.

The Relationship between Finger Length and Penis Size

The idea that finger length is predictive of penis size is based on the notion of digit ratio, which is the ratio of the length of the index finger to the length of the ring finger. It calculates this ratio by taking the distance between the base and the tip of the finger. Your index finger is slightly shorter than your ring finger, so you have a less-than-1 ratio.

Studies have revealed that a man’s ring finger length compared with his index finger indicates how much testosterone he received during birth. Testosterone is a hormone that is essential to the development of male reproductive organs such as the penis. The more testosterone a male embryo has in its bloodstream, the longer his ring finger will be relative to his index finger. This means that men who have a lower digit ratio (longer ring finger) had greater testosterone exposure and a larger penis.

Experiments on Finger Length and Penis Size

Some studies have investigated the association between finger length and penis size. Researchers in the British Journal of Urology International measured the finger lengths and size of penises in 144 men. The longer the ring finger relative to the index finger, they discovered, the longer the stretched penile length, or the length of the penis fully erect. This study also found that men with a lower digit ratio were more likely to have a longer penis.

Another report in the Asian Journal of Andrology examined the finger and penis lengths of 136 Korean men. There was also a positive correlation between finger length and penis size, as noted in this study. For men with a lower ratio, their penis was longer, either flaccid or stretched.

Implications and Limitations

The notion that finger length is a marker for penis size could have ramifications for men who are self-conscious about their proportions. If a man has fewer digits and a longer ring finger, he will likely be more certain about his penis size. Conversely, a man with a high digit-to-ring-finger ratio may be self-conscious about his height.

However, it isn’t just the length of the finger that affects the size of the penis. They are affected by genes, hormones and even body mass.

Genetics

Genetics also determines the size of the penis, and a number of genes have been found to influence the male organs’ growth and development. In one study, Poldermans et al. (2006) found that around 80% of the differences in penis size might be genetically caused. Furthermore, new genomic technologies have identified individual genes that might be involved in the development of the penis, including the Sox9 gene, important for the formation of the male reproductive system (Wagner et al., 2015). This means that genes play a strong role in determining the size of the penis, and that specific genes and variants of genes regulate the development of the penis.

Hormonal Levels

Similarly, hormone levels play a vital role in measuring penis size. Hormones stimulate development of the male reproductive tract, including the penis, from infancy through puberty. Specifically, androgens, like testosterone and its precursors, regulate the growth of the penis. Testosterone stimulates the differentiation of the male womb during the development of the foetus, and dihydrotestosterone, a derivative of testosterone, is important for the growth of the penis during puberty. In addition, researchers have discovered that men with low androgen birth conditions, including androgen insensitivity syndrome, have significantly smaller penises than healthy men (Camacho et al, 2004). As such, hormones, especially androgens, are crucial for healthy penile development.

Overall Body Size

This relationship between body size and the size of the penis has always been a subject of debate. A variety of different factors influence the body size of people, but in general, bigger bodies usually come with bigger penises. According to Veale et al. (2015) found a positive correlation between penis size, height and foot size – indicating that body size may influence penile development. This may be because penis size is part of human sexual dimorphism, or the variation in size and shape between men and women. Because males are typically larger than females, one might expect the penis, being a male organ, to be bigger in larger bodies.

Furthermore, the research described above only analyzed a small sample of men and might not represent all men. Thus, finger length should not be taken as a determinate of penis size, but as one variable.

Conclusion:

Depending on the length of the fingers, you might be able to gauge a guy’s penis size (in this case, less digit ratio and a shorter penis for guys, more digit ratio and a shorter penis for men). Not to say that every time you get the chance to calculate a guy’s penis size, you rush to check the length of his finger. The reality is that every man is different and there’s no ‘normal’ penis size. A man should only care about the state of his general health and not anything else for the sake of his fingers or body parts.
